APV Contracting is a regional civil contractor providing a wide range of civil construction, road maintenance and road repair work services within South West Queensland (Incl Cooper Basin and Eromanga Basin regions).

We have extensive experience in road construction within the region, this provides us with an understanding of local geology, extreme local weather conditions and the most effective road construction techniques to cater for the harshness of the region.

Our specialty is remote road works in the region, through to the NT border and down into SA oil and gas fields (Cooper Basin). Because of our remote background we are fully equipped to mobilise quickly and are self sufficient in both plant and equipment, accommodation and amenities and labour.

Our team is also highly experienced in remote civil works, with many years experience working in some of the harshest country in Australia. We also have the ability to increase skilled plant operators at short notice, drawn from a tried and tested local pool of operators.

We operate an Integrated Management System (Safety – Quality – Environmental). Safety culture is paramount to our operation, particularly in the regions we operate, you don’t get too many 2nd chances out here.

We are also equipped to provide a full range of local services to support any size civil project, managing the logistics and resources sourcing through one local provider.

Our civil construction capability / expertise is in road construction up to seal ready stage. Because of our South Western Queensland position, all of our project works are regional or remotely located where asphalt is not common. We are experts in regional road construction within harsh and remote locations throughout the Cooper Basin and Eromanga Basin regions.

Our capability allows us to comfortably take on civil road construction projects up to 1.5 million dollars as the principal contractor.

Our plant and equipment is fit for purpose for road building, are late model plant and fully maintained by our internal mechanical workshop. Our complement of civil plant and equipment allows us to execute most projects without having to source 3rd party supply (but have access locally when needed).

We are setup for remote works with mobile accommodation and facilities in our fleet of equipment, again allowing us to be self sufficient on any project we take on. This provides a setup where we can mobilise and demobilise quickly, without reliance on availability of equipment in the market.

Our plant operators have many years of experience not only in civil road works but civil works in regional and remote locations. They are highly skilled in road formation ensuring structural integrity and durability. Our local position also provides access to additional experienced (tried and tested) plant operators from the local area, giving us the ability to ramp up operations quickly where needed.

We operate under an Integrated Management System (Safety – Quality – Environmental) to support our business operations and allow us to continually improve business activity and performance. The nature of the work and locations we work in, a strong and committed safety culture is critical to the operation, hence the team have a real passion to ensure their personal and team mates safety is a priority. We have an excellent safety record in a harsh and unforgiving environment.

Our knowledge of, and relationship with landowners of regional material and water sources provides an ability for us to be efficient on haulage time frames compared to non local operators. In these regional areas the local knowledge factor provides a real point of difference when selecting contractors.

Traffic management is handled internally for most projects, but where required (larger projects) we may engage 3rd party operators to free up our team.

Road Maintenance

Regional Road Maintenance

Road maintenance is a core part of our service offering in the regional areas we cover. These services include scheduled maintenance and upgrade works to dirt roads as well as leading edge works of asphalt seal roads.

We have extensive experience in flood works repair and rebuilds within the Cooper and Eromanga Basins, utilising our local knowledge and skill-sets to complete works quickly and efficiently in regional flood repair programs.

We are regularly engaged by project consultants, councils and mains roads projects to maintain roads to varying requirements, relying on our local knowledge of subsoil traits, our quality of work and our ability to source hard to find gravel and water resources close to the roadworks project.
